Profitability Consulting for a Growing Produce Company
Situation: The client saw their profit margins shrink significantly as they expanded their business to new clients and market segments. They could not figure out the root cause from their basic financial statements.
Services: We performed a profitability analysis over a two-year period by product and client. This showed their net margins by key business segments and client relationships.
Outcome: We identified that their pricing for the largest customer was at a negative profit margin. We recommended that they re-visit the volume discounts in their pricing model with their larger customers.
Financial Performance Consulting can apply financial analysis techniques to help show how your organization is financially performing.
Management Reporting for a Growing Non-Profit Ministry
Situation: A growing non-profit was awarded new government contracts for services, but saw their financial situation get worse. Senior management and the board of directors lacked good insights into what was creating the problems.
Services: Developed a new board financial reporting to show trends and ministry segments. Also incorporated key operational metrics to show ministry impact in the community. Recommended a streamlined budgeting process aligned with ministry segments.
Outcome: The new reporting provided better insights into ministry. Leadership renegotiated key contracts for ministry segments that were draining ministry finances.
Financial Performance Consulting can help you develop reporting to provide meaningful insights into your organization.
Financial Analysis Consultant for Retail Business Acquisition
Situation: A CPA firm had a client that wanted to purchase a retail personal services business. The client wanted to know what income and rate of return he would get from the business.
Services: Worked with the CPA firm to analyze the existing business’ financials including a detailed revenue analysis over a two-year period to identify what each staff member was producing. Employee, property lease and other contracts were reviewed to understand the ongoing cost structure. Created a financial model to show the future income the business could generate.
Outcome: Identified risks with some sales staff with compensation and lack of contracts. Product sales were below normal industry levels and opportunities existed to increase them. Recommended they implement a new point of sale system to better track services and sales by staff. To achieve the target profitability ratio, the client would have to take an active role in managing the business instead of paying a manager.
Financial Performance Consulting can help with due diligence for acquisitions and provide financial forecasting models.
